Popham Beach Bed and Breakfast
How would you like to spend the night just steps from the beach in a former Coast Guard Station? Then the Popham Beach B&B is the perfect location. With six miles of pristine unspoiled beach you will be likely to see osprey and even seals as you take your walk.
The building itself dates from the late 19th century and was decommissioned by the Coast Guard in 1971. It spent many years guarding the entrance to the Kennebec River and you can still enjoy views of the River from the tower.
There are four bedrooms to choose from The Library which has wonderful views of the beach from its bay window, the bunkhouse, the Captains Quarters which is a suite and the Boatswains. The prices range from $140 to $235 depending on the room and the season. All of the rooms have a private bath.
Breakfast is served in the former mess hall and is two or three courses. Guest who must depart early can be accommodated with a Continental breakfast. During the high season there is a minimum of two nights reservation required. This is indeed a unique bed and breakfast getaway for anyone who enjoys being right on the beach.
Half an hour away you can enjoy the antique stores of Bath or the great shopping in Freeport.
Jailers Inn Bed and Breakfast
You will notice that there is something unique about this bed and breakfast from the moment you arrive. The windows have iron bars and the walls are over two feet thick, they don’t want any of the guests getting away! You really won’t mind doing your “time” in one of their six luxurious guestrooms.
The building really is a former jail and dates from the early 1800’s. and if these walls could talk just imagine the stories they could tell. The six rooms offer luxuries that the former residents could only dream of. With names like the Victorian and the Colonial you can expect antiques and luxurious bedding, if you want to have a real feel of the jail house try the Jail Cell room with its original bunks and water-bed.
A full breakfast is served everyday and in the nice weather you can take it in the courtyard.
Prices range from $80 to $135, all the rooms have a private bath and two have Jacuzzi tubs. Rooms are equipped with a TV .
