Theme Park Reviews Thorpe Park Surrey UK

If you enjoy thrills and spills and like a little adventure then a visit to a theme park can make for a great day out. There are a few of these around the United Kingdom which provide the opportunity to get some adrenaline pumping action on a variety of rollercoaster rides. However if the scariest extreme rides and attractions are your thing, then there is only one place that fits the bill. Thorpe Park is located in Surrey and with over 30 big thrill rides and other attractions available it is a theme park that many people will enjoy visiting.

Billed as the nations thrill capital, Thorpe Park is located in Chesterton, Surrey. It originally opened in 1979 and in the 30 years it has been open it has grown into one of the most thrilling theme parks in the UK. It is generally open for business from March to November each year with the opening times varying during the year. Ticket prices for a day visit are GBP24 for children under 12 and GBP38 for ages 12 and over. A family ticket (2 adults + 2 children or 1 adult + 3 children) costs GBP102. However these are the prices that are paid at the park itself and discounts of 10 to 30% are available if you book your tickets online. With the many rides available it can also be worth visiting for two days as the price is only GBP1 more per person for a s 2 day ticket.

On a visit to the park there are many attractions to enjoy and these range from family rides to some of the biggest and scariest rollercoaster’s in the UK. Some of the best of the attractions at Thorpe Park include the following.

SAW – The Ride

The SAW movie franchise has been one of the scariest in recent years and this ride will generate some scary feelings of its own. It includes 3 inversions and a beyond vertical fall where you will drop 100 feet straight down from top to bottom. If the rollercoaster is not scary enough for you then there is also a SAW Alive Horror Maze. This is a live action attraction featuring six of the trap rooms from the SAW movies. You need to work your way through these with actors playing the part of some of the victims of the traps. This is your very own chance to take on Jigsaw. These are both extreme attractions and not recommended for under 12’s.

Colossus

This rollercoaster is one that many possibly turn your head and your stomach. It features a world record 10 loops, including a quadruple corkscrew. It is one of the biggest and most white knuckle rides in the park and is not for the faint of heart.

Stealth

If speed is your thing then Stealth is the rollercoaster to head for in Thorpe Park. It takes you from 0 to 80mph in less than 2 seconds and will race you around a thrilling ride in super fast time.

Tidal Wave

This log flume is one of the tallest in the UK and the 85 foot drop into the water produces one of the biggest splashes around. Prepare to get wet when you take on the Tidal wave.

However these are just a few of the many rides at Thorpe Park and some of the other extreme action includes Nemesis Inferno, Vortex, Rush and Slammer.

If you are looking for something a little gentler, although still exciting there are many other rides and attractions available in Thorpe Park. Time Voyagers is a 4D movie experience which will take you into the world of time travelers and archaeology. Flying Fish is a beginner’s rollercoaster which will introduce you to the excitement these types of rides can offer and Depth Charge is a set of 40 foot slides which you can use to race friends and family to the bottom.

Most people will spend a full day at the park to enjoy the attractions and there are nine food outlets located through the park where you can enjoy some food and drink to refresh you between rides. The food available ranges from Mexican to Calypso, noodles and good old fashioned British fish and chips. There are also a number of shops in the park where you can pick up a souvenir of your day out if you so wish. Other facilities at the park include lockers where you can store your bags safely and a medical centre in case of any unfortunate mishaps.

A day out at Thorpe Park can be a thrilling experience and is something that most people will enjoy. They have something for everyone from rides and attractions for younger children and families to the biggest, white knuckle rides in the UK.
