Saving Money on your Walt Disney World Trip

There is no doubt that Disney World is one of the most magical places on earth. Many travelers believe that staying at Disney is very expensive, but there are a few budget minded resorts offered by Disney for those wanting to capture the entire Disney experience without depleting their savings. The Disney resort system is categorized into three different categories. They are value, moderate and deluxe.

The value category includes the All Star Music, All Star Movies, All Star Sports and Pop Century. These resorts start at $82 a night. The rooms feature two double beds or one king bed. There is enough room for a family of four although the rooms can be a bit small for the average family. The food options include a resort themed food court and pizza delivery. Each resort also includes a themed pool and an arcade for the young ones to enjoy. While the price of these resorts is slightly higher compared to basic hotels around the area, they may be worth it if you want to get the entire Disney experience.

The moderate category resorts include the Caribbean Beach, Coronado Springs and Port Orleans French Quarter and Riverside resorts. These resorts offer a wonderful combination of value and amenities. There are large themed pool with waterslides, food courts, full service restaurants and recreational activities such as bike rentals and boating. These rooms start at $145 a night.

The deluxe category resorts include the Animal Kingdom Lodge, Beach Club, Boardwalk Inn, Contemporary, Grand Floridian, Yacht Club and the Polynesian. These resorts offer world-class service, dining, and amenities. The pools are elaborately themed with slides; there are water sports, spas, character dining and much more. The price for these rooms start at $215 a night.

Guests staying on property regardless of the resort can enjoy a multiple of benefits that can add up to huge savings. These include park ticket packages, dining packages, extra magic hours at the parks, use of the on site bus system that covers the entire Disney complex (no need to rent a car), the ability to use the room keys as charge cards in all restaurants and shops and Disney Magical Express (airport transfer to and from the resort).

By staying on property, guests have the ability to bundle up their options to create huge savings. Disney has created something called Magic Your Way. The Magic Your Way option lets you add park tickets for the duration of your stay. The more you stay the more you save. Park tickets can go as low as $30 per day. You can also add the hopper option and water parks to increase your savings.

Dining can be one of the most expensive elements in any vacation. Well, Disney World now makes world class dining more affordable for most of us. You can add the Dining Option to your Magic Your Way package. With the dining package you get one counter service (fast food), table service (sit down restaurant) and one snack per day at any participation Disney World location. The savings can add up pretty quickly as this option only cost $39.99 per adult per night and $10.00 for children under 10 years old per night. The average food cost savings for the entire vacation is around 30%. There are other dining packages available at various costs.

What better way to maximize your stay at Disney World than taking advantage of the Extra Magic Hours perk. Guests staying on property have the ability to enjoy extra time at the parks before or after they close. Each day, one of the theme parks opens one hour early or stays up to three hours late so guests can enjoy the more popular rides and attractions with fewer crowds.

Why bother renting a car when Disney World has a very efficient bus system throughout the complex? They are everywhere, they go everywhere and they run around every 20 minutes. Disney Worlds transportation system will surely make your vacation a carefree, relaxing and money saving benefit.

Disney’s Magical Express adds even more value to your vacation. Guest staying on property can check in their baggage at their hometown airport, forget about claiming your baggage in Orlando and board a magical motor coach on route to your resort while Disney delivers your baggage directly to your resort room. No need to grab a taxi or rent a car; savings and convenience bundled up together to make your vacation a more relaxing one.

Another way to rack up your savings is a not so popular one. Disney has a hidden secret called Disney Vacation Club. These are Disney’s version of a vacation ownership program. They are condo style accommodations that offer studios, one, two and three bedroom suites. The resorts are Old Key West, Saratoga Springs, Boardwalk Villas, Beach Club Villas, Yacht Club Villas, The Villas at Wilderness Lodge and their newest addition the Animal Kingdom Villas.

If you are like me, then this is the way to go. There is a way to stay at these deluxe accommodations at a Value resort budget. The members are allotted a number of points based on their membership level. If not used, these points may be lost. These points are rented out at the average cost of $10 per point. The average number of points needed for a studio is around 108. This means that you can enjoy your stay at a deluxe resort for around $100 a night, which is close to the price of a value resort. I have been able to rent out these points as low as $8 per point. You have the capability to negotiate with the member to reach a number that works for everyone involved.

Disney Vacation Club owners typically post these points at websites like disboards.com or mouseowners.com. You need to be a registered user in order to correspond with the members. If you see something that you like, all you need to do is contact the member. You will need to give them your vacation information such as names and ages of all traveling, contact information and vacation dates. The member will then contact Disney to make arrangements for you. You will pay the member for the room cost only. Tickets and dining packages cost are all paid directly to Disney on the day you check in. Disney will send the member your vacation confirmation with your name on it and the member will forward on to you.

As you can see, there are many ways you can save on your Disney vacation without sacrificing on your experience. No matter where you stay and what options you add on to your package you are sure to have a wonderful and memorable experience with your loved ones.
