Mgm Grand Review

The MGM Grand City Within a City

You’ll see the MGM Grand from the air on your final descent into the Las Vegas airport. This huge Wizard of Oz green complex stretches over a complete city block and lights up the sky at night. You won’t even have to arrive at the hotel to experience the efficient, courteous staff because the MGM has a check-in area right at the airport. Within minutes, you’ll have your room key in hand and soon be on your way to a luxury stay full of fun and surprises.

My husband and I have stayed at the MGM many times so come along with me on a perfect day. After a restful night’s sleep in our suite room, I’ll get up early and check out the sunrise from the window which overlooks The Strip. After a shower in the marble-tiled bathroom, complete with phone and elegant accessories, I’ll dress casually and head downstairs for a cup of coffee at Starbucks. Then, it’s a short walk down the inside mall to the swimming pool (s). The number of pools open varies by season, but there is always at least one ready for my morning swim. While my husband checks out the craps tables, I’ll do my laps and then float on my back and watch the early morning sunlight filter through the palm trees. It’s the same feeling I get in Hawaii or the Caribbean total relaxation with the happy anticipation of a fun day ahead.

After I’ve gone back to the room and changed into “real clothes,” it’s time for breakfast perhaps a simple meal in the caf or a more elaborate one in the buffet. My husband and I like to gamble in the morning when there are no crowds. Thanks to MGM’s generous Players’ Club program, we always start out with free cash from them. If we’re lucky, we can turn that cash into more.

In the afternoon, we like to visit nearby casinos which are part of MGM’s Players Club New York New York is right across the street and the bridge leading to it is a great place to people watch in the daytime or view the fireworks at night.

After a late afternoon swim, it’s time for dinner. Since we often travel to Las Vegas with family or friends, we take a vote as to where to eat. My personal favorite is the Chinois Chicken Salad at Wolfgang Puck’s, but my brother likes the lobster bisque at the Craftsteak of perhaps the miniature lamb chops at L’Atelier. For my husband, it’s all about the buffet, so we flip a coin and march off to eat.

The MGM attracts big name entertainment. The schedules are available online so you can plan your trip accordingly.

Time flies at the MGM whether it’s watching the real lions cavort in their enclosure or winning dollars on the Lion Machines in the casino, everything is fun. I’m always sad to leave the MGM. On the flight home, we look at our calendars to see when we can go again.
