You can’t escape Memphis without visiting the famous Graceland. Here you can learn about Elvis Presley and see many of his old costumes and awards along the Graceland Mansion tour.

Beale Street

Beale Street is a great place to explore and feel the music culture of the town. Here you’ll find many clubs and restaurants that play live blues, jazz, and rock and roll music. In early May, The Beale Street Music Festival is held, which features wonderful blues music.

The Memphis Zoo
The Memphis Zoo is a great place to visit any time of the year. The zoo holds several different species of animals. Some of the highlights include the giant pandas as well as the polar bears and sea lions. Before you visit, check the website to see if there are any special exhibits that are rotating through.

A riverboat tour on the Mississippi River
It is lovely to take a cruise along the Mississippi River. Several tour groups offer a range of boat tours, dinner tours, and private charters. On one of these tours you can learn about the history and culture of the area as you are enjoy a relaxing cruise adventure.

Memphis Music Hall of Fame
The Memphis Music Hall of Fame holds special memorabilia from blues and rock and roll musicians over the years.

Sun Studios
Along the same lines, you should check out the “birthplace of rock and roll” where music stars recorded their records back in the 1950’s. The tour is worthwhile and is relatively quick.

National Civil Rights Museum.
This museum celebrates the history of the civil rights movement and is located in the motel where Doctor Martin Luther King was assassinated.

Mud Island
The Mississippi River Park at Mud Island is a great area for walking and biking. It also holds many great restaurants and a hydraulic scale model of the Mississippi River that is quite remarkable. It also holds a large outdoor amphitheater which is regularly used for concerts.

Shelby Farms Park
This is one of the largest urban parks in the country, offers endless options of things to do. You can go on a nice jog or bike ride, go kayaking on Patriot Lake or search for the many wildlife that live within the park.
