There are many great destinations in Europe for spring vacations. The advantages of spring vacations are that they are usually better value than summer vacations. Here are a few European destination suggestions for a spring vacation in 2012.
Rome & Vatican:
Italy has some vibrant cities such as Rome. Rome is a city that is renowned for famous classical architecture such as the Colosseum and Pantheon temple. You can also visit the Vatican City which includes St Peter’s Cathedral which is one of the largest cathedrals, and in addition to this there is also the Sistine Chapel with its extravagant interior décor. During the Easter period thousands of Christians flock to the Vatican’s Easter festivals.
Venice is another noteworthy destination in Italy. Venice is in the north of Italy and is a city that is dominated by a canal network and gondolas. Visit St Mark’s Square with it Bell Tower and Clock Tower, or alternatively Lido Island.
In spring 2012, a new Titanic Building will be opening in Belfast’s Titanic Quarter. The Titanic was constructed in Belfast before it went down after colliding with an iceberg, and 2012 will be the 100th anniversary of the Titanic’s demise. To commemorate the anniversary the Titanic Building has been constructed, which is a modern building shaped as four ship hulls. The Titanic Building is a large Titanic museum which retells the story of the Titanic. As such, with this new state-of-the-art museum Belfast could be a great destination for spring vacation in 2012.
Costa Del Sol:
For a golf vacation destination this spring, why not check out the Costa Del Sol in southern Spain? The Costa Del Sol is on Spain’s Mediterranean coastline, and has approximately 70 golf courses including the famous Valderrama championship golf course. Among the foremost destinations in the Costa Del Sol are Marbella and Malaga which have great coastlines, beaches and during the Easter period spring fiestas.
The French Riviera is another great European destination for a spring vacation in 2012. Cities such as Cannes have sandy beaches such as the Côte d’Azur and large marinas with lots of yachts and boats for a variety of watersports. During the spring the Cannes film festival comes to town, and beyond Cannes other highlights include the Monaco Grand Prix which is also scheduled in May.
