Disneyland Tips

Disneyland is known as “the happiest place on earth,” with good reason. Everyone can enjoy Disneyland whether they are small children or senior citizens. Few, if any, other destinations have this ability to please nearly everyone. However, even at the happiest place on earth, you may find that there are things that can make your trip easier. You can save money, time and sanity with the following tips for your trip to Disneyland.

Arrive about 30 minutes after the park opens if you don’t want to fight the crowds. There are some people that don’t mind the crowds, but most people do. About 30 minutes after the park opens is when the crowds in front start to die off, and you can walk into the park easily. Otherwise, you may get into the park early, but you will be fighting crowds both at the front gates, and along Main Street until the park opens. When you get into the park, most people head straight for Fantasyland, which you may want to do if you don’t want to wait in a long line for Small World. Otherwise, you may want to head for Frontierland, which is practically empty in the morning.

Bring plenty of water with you, especially if having bottled water is important to you. Bottled water is about $3 a bottle in the park, making it a precious commodity. In the event that you do not bring your own water, however, there are drinking fountains where the water is a little warm but you can still drink it, or you can ask at any of the food stops for ice water in a cup. In the same vein, you may want to bring a few snacks for between meals.

Be prepared for sticker shock on everything from food to t-shirts. Disneyland is not known for selling things cheaply. You may occasionally be able to find things on sale in some of the stores, but those times are rare. As for food, if you don’t want to pay their prices, you can go across Harbor Blvd to McDonald’s or Quizno’s and save a little bit of money. Keep in mind however, that although their food is expensive, it is also very high quality, as is their merchandise.

Prioritize the things that you want to do. In a single day at Disneyland, and sometimes even in a week, you may not get to do everything because there is just so much. Make sure that you get to do those things that you want to do most. This will keep you feeling good about your trip, and enjoying it. Trying to get to everything is actually stressful and takes the fun out of the trip.

The most important tip of all is to enjoy the trip. Not everyone will be able to do everything, but doing the things that you love the most will make the trip meaningful and fun for you.
