A Small Private Hotel

When you are looking for something a little out of the ordinary in your accommodation in Dublin, Pembroke Townhouse Hotel is an excellent choice. Accommodations are frightfully expensive in Dublin, so finding something in the vicinity of 100 Euro’s takes some real effort. Pembroke Townhouse caught my attention and when a friend reconfirmed that they were outstanding, that sealed the deal.

Pembroke Road is in Ballsbridge. It is an easy walk to St. Stephens Green and Trinity College. These are indeed converted townhouses and have a very impressive entrance. You need to ring the bell to be buzzed into the building. The lobby will make you feel as if you are a guest in a private home. The main features are a fireplace and some comfortable sofas and chairs. All very sophisticated and stylish. You will also find magazines and International newspapers if you want to linger.

The hotel has six stories and the rooms are all individual. No two are exactly alike. They do have suites as well as doubles and singles. The standard room leaves nothing to be desired. We had a king size bed, two circular antique night stands with multiple drawers, a large armoire where we stored our smaller luggage, a desk with a phone and hair dryer. We had a small TV attached to the wall which had a fairly good selection of channels from all over Europe.

The bathroom had a nice deep tub for soaking and was immaculately clean. Lighting was good and there were some nice amenities including a sewing kit. I liked that they changed the shampoo everyday. The towels were big and plush and they did include that often illusive face cloth.

Breakfast was included and is available from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm. in a breakfast room on the second floor (the lobby is the second floor). There is a continental buffet with several cereal choices, yogurt, fresh fruit and a couple of cake choices. You pick your juice and your coffee, tea or hot chocolate is delivered. You then can choose to have French toast, an omelet, an Irish fried breakfast or lamb kidneys. Service was spotty but the food is great.

We loved this hotel. Everything about it was wonderful and warm and the price was unbeatable. The front desk staff in particular were warm and welcoming and always ready to offer help and suggestions. The location is very convenient and this is is easy to highly recommend to friends and even strangers.
