A Guide to Ashford

Ashford is in Kent and though by the sea, it is a little more rural, so offers you a different type of holiday, compared to Margate, Dover or Folkestone.

Ashford has an international link to France via the channel tunnel and an extra fast speed train that can get you to London in no time at all. So Ashford is a great place to go if you plan to travel to different areas around the south of England or France. The station itself is huge and when you step outside you are right by the start of the high street and a main bus stop.

By Ashford, there is a lovely zoo named Port Lympne. It really is a good day out. You can see a selection of monkeys and gorillas and there is also a safari on site. You get to sit in the back of an off road truck and get up close to Zebras, Giraffes, Elephants, Black Rhino and other amazing animals. You can also stay on the site if booked in advance and get a morning tour of the safari as they feed them. Imagine being woken up by the sounds of wild animals like Giraffes and Elephants. It really is a lovely place to visit and of course there is a cafe and many little kiosks and there is also a manor house which holds special events and is able to lease out for occasions. Howletts is also close by and that is quite a big zoo with lots of Gorillas, but there is no safari.

There are many different gardens that you can visit and explore, allowing you a great chance to be outside and to also relax in beautiful surroundings. Some of these are named: Hall Place Gardens, Penshurst Gardens and others.

There is a golf course situated near to the international hotel. It would be a great way to fill a morning if you are visiting for a long weekend and is very close to the international hotel, which offers great accommodation and at a good cost.

For those of you who just love to shop, there is a huge shopping centre offering branded clothes and gifts etc, at factory prices. It is a great place to shop, especially if you are into sports wear, as there is own branded stores such as Nike, Adidas and others. There is also a play area for children, so you can bribe them to be good for you and of course there are places to eat. There is a McDonalds, Jacket potato and other kiosks all situated as you walk into the centre. Something for everyone!. There is also a high street with a small centre, so I think it is safe to say you are likely to find a few things that you like.
